The Process
Turning your vision into art
Stage 1
Initial Enquiry

To begin your commission journey, simply send an email to enquiries@sophieameliastudio.co.uk to join my waitlist.
In your enquiry, please include the size of the artwork you’re interested in and share a little about the subject(s) you'd like me to capture.

I’ll review your details and be in touch to discuss availability and next steps!
Current waitlist estimation: January 2024
Stage 2
Consultation Phase
After receiving your enquiry, we’ll begin discussing your commission in detail and set an approximate start date. About 4 weeks prior to this date, I’ll reach out to officially start the consultation phase.
During this time, we’ll go over the specifics of your artwork—covering size, subject(s), and any details you’d like to include. A 10% deposit will be collected at this stage, and I’ll also place an order for any materials needed to bring your vision to life.
Stage 3
Reference Photos
In this stage, we’ll arrange for the essential reference photos needed for your commission. For all my work, I rely on high-quality images to capture every detail, so professional photography is included in my pricing. We’ll schedule a visit to photograph your subject if needed, covering areas within a 50-mile radius of both CB7 and NR21 free of charge. For locations beyond these zones, an additional fuel fee applies. Alternatively, if you already have a professional, high-quality photo of your subject, I can work directly from that.

To achieve a realistic and detailed final piece, I work from a single, high-quality photo. Unfortunately, commissions cannot proceed with low-quality images, which is why I provide this photography service. If high-quality photos are not possible due to location or other circumstances, the commission may be canceled, and your initial deposit will be fully refunded. This will always be discussed during the initial enquiry to ensure clarity and satisfaction.

Stage 4
The Contract

In this stage, we’ll confirm all final details of your commission to ensure everything aligns with your vision. I’ll provide a digital sketch of the composition, giving you a clear idea of the final layout.
Once approved, a contract will be drawn up to outline our agreement. At this point, a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the remaining balance is required befor the next phase of creation.
Stage 5
The Drawing

Stage 6
Completion
Once your artwork is complete, I’ll send you a watermarked proof of the finished drawing. At this stage, you’ll have the opportunity to request any adjustments, provided they align with the original agreement outlined in the contract. Once you’re fully satisfied with the piece, the remaining balance will be due.

Final stage

Once the final payment is received, your drawing will be carefully gift-wrapped and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. I offer free delivery within a 50-mile radius of CB7 and NR21; for locations beyond these zones, delivery is available for an additional fee.
Alternatively, if you prefer, I can arrange for your artwork to be sent via post. For maximum safety, I recommend using a courier service that specialises in fine art transportation—this option will need to be arranged and paid for by the client, including any additional packaging required for secure travel.
